Common questions about our landscaping services, process, and service area.
We serve the greater Charlotte metro on both sides of the NC/SC state line, including Charlotte, Concord, Matthews, Indian Trail, Mint Hill, Huntersville, Cornelius, Waxhaw, Monroe, Pineville, and Denver in North Carolina, and Fort Mill, Lake Wylie, Indian Land, Clover, and the surrounding areas in South Carolina. If you're unsure whether we cover your address, give us a call — we can usually confirm same day.
Yes — all estimates are free and come with no obligation. We typically respond to quote requests the same day, and most estimates can be provided remotely for smaller projects or after a quick site visit for larger ones.
We carry Bermuda, Zoysia, and Fescue sod varieties, available both by the pallet and by the mega roll. We'll help you choose the right variety based on your soil, sun exposure, water availability, and intended use. All sod installation includes soil preparation and grading.
A standard residential sod installation typically takes one day, though larger properties or those requiring significant grading may take two. We'll give you a specific timeline in your estimate. Newly installed sod should be kept moist and off-limits to foot traffic for the first two weeks.
We provide recurring commercial lawn maintenance for office parks, retail centers, HOAs, and multi-family properties. Services include weekly or bi-weekly mowing, edging, string trimming, and blowing on a schedule that works around your business operations.
Yes. Emerald Hummingbird Landscaping is fully licensed and insured for residential and commercial work in both North Carolina and South Carolina. We carry liability insurance and are prepared to provide documentation upon request.
Yes — we're available Monday through Sunday, 7am to 7pm. We understand that property projects don't always fit into a Monday-to-Friday window, and we schedule accordingly.
The easiest ways are to call us at (704) 615-9773 or fill out the quote form on our Contact page. We respond to all requests the same day during business hours. For most residential projects, we can provide an estimate based on photos and property dimensions before scheduling a site visit.
Most standard residential fence installations are completed in one to two days depending on the footage, terrain, and fence type. We install wood, vinyl, and chain-link fencing, including gate hardware. Your estimate will include a specific timeline.
Bermuda is a warm-season grass that thrives in full sun, is highly drought-tolerant, and goes dormant (turns brown) in winter — it's a popular choice in the Charlotte area. Zoysia is also warm-season but handles light shade better and has a denser, finer texture. Fescue is a cool-season grass that stays green year-round in our climate, tolerates shade well, but requires more water and can thin in intense summer heat. We'll help you choose based on your specific yard conditions.
Yes. We design and install French drain systems for yards, foundations, driveways, and patios where standing water is a recurring problem. The process involves trenching, installing a gravel bed with perforated pipe, and backfilling with topsoil — finished with sod for a clean result. Drainage problems caught early prevent much more costly foundation and landscaping damage down the line.
Most landscape beds benefit from a fresh layer of mulch once per year, typically in the spring. Over time, mulch breaks down and compacts, reducing its ability to suppress weeds and retain moisture. A 2–3 inch application is standard. We carry brown, black, and red dyed mulch as well as natural hardwood and pine bark options.
Yes — this is one of the main advantages of working with us. We regularly complete projects that combine sod installation, mulch beds, new planting, and concrete or fencing work in a single engagement. Having one crew manage the full scope eliminates coordination headaches and ensures the finished result looks cohesive.
Yes. We offer weekly and bi-weekly commercial maintenance agreements that cover mowing, edging, trimming, and cleanup. Contract clients receive priority scheduling and consistent crew assignment. Contact us to discuss your property's needs and square footage.
We ask for as much notice as possible — ideally 24 hours — so we can adjust our schedule. We understand that weather and circumstances change, and we work with our clients to find a new time that works. There are no cancellation fees for rescheduling with reasonable notice.
